Brunch at Muscadine

Fashion Food

My best friend Wanda and I have had a tradition of hanging out the day before I leave for school, celebrating the end of summer and dreading the start of living on opposite sides of the state. This year, we started our last day with brunch in Portland at a southern style restaurant called Muscadine. I’ve never been one to crave fried chicken in the morning but apparently it’s a popular concept so I decided to give it a shot…

I ordered the buttermilk fried chicken with a biscuit, bacon, and potatoes with a mimosa to drink while Wanda ordered sausage gravy over biscuits and scrambled eggs with black tea.

This was definitely some of the best fried chicken I have ever had! The potatoes and bacon were delicious and the biscuit was heavenly! The most memorable part of this brunch were the biscuits but the fried chicken was a close second.

After eating it was time to go outside and shamelessly spend hours getting pictures of our outfits.

With a sunny forecast in mind, Wanda wore a t shirt dress for a trendy and comfortable look. In an effort to mimic over the knee boots, she paired some thigh high socks with a pair of black heels and tied the look together with a black hat. Wanda chose black and grey for her color palette to give her look a bit of an edge.

I wanted to go for a look that was casual and comfortable but still looked like I made an effort for a brunch date. I decided to go with a chambray top slightly tucked in to some high waisted, dark denim jeans and dressed the look up with my brown, heeled booties. My brown purse is small and perfect for a day of shopping and the color tied the look together, finalizing my brown and blue color scheme.

If you’re ever in Portland, Muscadine is a must for some southern style brunch!
