Shorts & Selvedge

Fashion

Happy Saturday! With graduation and then jumping straight into my internship, the first couple weeks of my Summer have been kind of hectic as I moved back to Portland and have been getting back into a routine. But I’m finally settled in and have started making some awesome plans for the Summer! Stay tuned for lots of Summer recipes, trends, and some awesome activities, primarily in the Portland area!

But today I wanna talk about my Summer staple: denim shorts. Kind of a no-brainer, am I right?

I posted about these a little bit in May but I wanted to elaborate more because they are honestly my favorite pair of shorts that I have ever owned! They’re the Wedgie Fit short from Levi’s. The Wedgie jeans were a huge trend last year, known for being extremely flattering and high waisted, and these shorts are exactly that and a little bit more.

Similar to the 501 shorts, they have a button fly. I was originally planning on getting the 501 shorts because I love my 501 jeans but the Wedgie shorts were much more flattering on me. These are also selvedge denim. Selvedge comes from the term “self-edge.” It’s a process where the denim is sewn with a clean edge and no fringe. This means that the edge is much less likely to unravel and it causes the denim to maintain its integrity and last longer.

These shorts are also 100% cotton so they have absolutely no synthetic fibers in them. When I first bought them they were pretty snug but cotton stretches and after wearing these for a couple months they now fit my body perfectly! Plus when you combine that with the button fly and the selvedge, these shorts are basically made to last a lifetime and that makes them well worth the investment!

My favorite way to style these shorts are with my Adidas and a comfortable top, always tucked in the front. This particular top is from Levi’s 2016 Summer collection.

All of these photos were taken by my good friend Savannah! She has her own blog and you can follow her over at MsWanderess.com!

It’s no secret I’m a little obsessed with Levi’s. What’s your favorite denim brand? And what are some of your staples this season??
