Last weekend was my birthday and I decided to head home to Portland for the weekend to celebrate with my family and have a little down time to relax. It was great and now, sadly, I’m back at school and trying not to crumble under my workload and the prospect of finals in only a month.
When I was home I took advantage of being back in a city and spent Sunday afternoon getting tea, brunch, and doing some shopping with my friend Zoë. Our first stop downtown was Tea Bar in the Pearl. I’ve been here a couple of times and I seem to love it more and more every time I go!
If you’re a fan of minimalism, charm, and tea then this is the place for you! The Pearl is a beautiful part of Portland that goes from industrial style, brick buildings, to clean cut apartment complexes and charming bakeries and boutiques. When you’ve strolled past all of the beautiful apartments and townhomes you will reach the huge windows that serve as a storefront to Tea Bar. Inside every surface is made out of pale wood and the walls are a crisp white.
In at least one corner there is a cactus and everyone is drinking a different tea that adds a splash of color at every table. At the counter facing one of the huge windows that Zoë and I picked, we added a splash of orange and green. Me, a Thai Iced Tea.
Her, an Iced Honey Matcha.
If you’re a fan of Thai Iced Tea, then I highly recommend this drink! It’s the best Thai Iced Tea I have ever had! Sweet and totally refreshing!
After an hour or so of sipping our tea and catching up we finally headed out to brunch. For a day of constantly walking I tried to plan a somewhat comfortable outfit. I wore one of my favorite pairs of jeans: My 501’s. I love the cut and the style and the high rise of them went perfectly with a simple, cropped sweater. I love my heeled booties but, I’m not going to lie, my feet were throbbing by the end of the day. I’ll stick with some flat soled shoes next time.
If you are ever in the mood for some tea in Portland then I highly recommend Tea Bar! They have 3 locations: The Pearl, Killingsworth, and Division.
