A Spicy Fall Cocktail

Food

As if Thanksgiving won’t be spicy enough this year after the election, might as well add some habanero infused tequila, am I right?

I really wanted to incorporate tequila into something other than a margarita this year and then I discovered Mexican Mules! Moscow Mules are always a crowd favorite but I’m not the biggest fan of vodka so I decided to do a twist on the classic by making it Mexican, spicy, and by adding blood orange because, well, it’s the best Fall fruit in my opinion.

Let me introduce the Spicy Blood Orange Mexican Mule! Perfect for Thanksgiving or any other Holiday parties you have coming up.

A bit of lime, some blood orange, a splash of ginger beer, and a whole lot of habanero infused tequila!

The first thing we need to focus on is the tequila, of course. This was honestly the easiest part of the recipe! I took 8oz of tequila and 2 habanero peppers. All you need to do is slice up the habaneros and let them sit in the tequila for 30 minutes.

To make this a Mule, you would only need to add some lime juice before the ginger beer but I can’t resist using blood orange in a seasonal cocktail. So I opted for 1oz of lime juice and the juice from a whole blood orange. It adds a sweetness to balance out the ginger and habaneros.

Speaking of ginger, you cannot go wrong with Fever Tree. It’s my favorite for mules because it has more of the spicy ginger taste and it’s less sweet than Cock n Bull or Reed’s.
